The Kitchener Rangers confused many, not so much by Kitchener-Rangerstrading away Curtis Meighan to the Ottawa 67’s but the acquisition of OA netminder and highly touted Detroit Red Wings prospect Jake Paterson, that soon followed. This comes just day(s) after trading away key guys in Justin Bailey and Brent Pedersen. Jake Paterson should be able to take the Kitchener Rangers into the playoffs but many don’t see them going much further than the first round.

The Saginaw Spirit had, and still do have just one player card remaining, meaning the Spirit were unlikely to bring in any more bodies in exchange for Paterson.

To Kitchener:

– Jake Paterson

To Saginaw:

– 3rd Round Pick (2017)
– 2nd Round Pick (2018)

Not to go unmentioned, the Rangers also sent overage centre Curtis Meighan to the Ottawa 67’s. Meighan is a native of Ottawa, ON which means Meighan will have the chance to finish out his OHL career playing in front of his home crowd.

To Ottawa:

– Adam Craievich
– 8th Round Pick (2018)

To Guelph:

– Tyler Hill

The Ottawa 67’s have acquired Ryan Orban from the Saginaw Spirit in exchange for Troy Henley and an 8th round pick in 2016.

Much like Henley, Orban is a 1997 born defender who was having issues with ice time in their previous situations, Orban with Saginaw and Henley with Ottawa. Orban became so upset with Spirit coaching that he decided to return home to Stittsville, ON late last month to await his move from the club.

The trade also sends Ryan Orban closer to home as Stittsville is just a short drive from Ottawa.

Orban and Henley are both former 2nd round selections and were selected just 3 picks of each other in the 2013 Priority selection.
