The Barrie Colts and the Saginaw Spirit announced that they’ve come together on a trade that sees D Greg DiTomaso & LW Dylan Sadowy head to the Barrie Colts in exchange for D Rocky  Kaura & 11 draft choices. This is getting out of hand.

To Barrie:
– Dylan Sadowy
– Gregory DiTomaso

To Saginaw:
– Rocky Kaura
– 2nd Round Pick (2016)
– 2nd Round Pick (2019)
– 2nd Round Pick (2020)
– 2nd Round Pick (2021)
– 2nd Round Pick (Conditional, 2022)
– 3rd Round Pick (2017)
– 3rd Round Pick (2018)
– 3rd Round Pick (Conditional, 2023)
– 4th Round Pick (Kingston, 2016)
– 4th Round Pick (2018)
– 5th Round Pick (2020)

Left winger Dylan Sadowy, a native of Woodbridge, Ontario was drafted by the Saginaw Spirit in the 2nd round of the 2012 OHL priority selection. He has since gone on to play in 230 games, all with the same organization that drafted him, the Saginaw Spirit. In those 230 games played, the San Jose Sharks prospect by way of the 3rd round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Sadowy has scored 151 points consisting of 91 goals and 60 assists. This year, Sadowy is scoring just shy of a point per game on a rebuilding team in Saginaw. In 36 games, Sadowy as scored 20 goals and 13 assists for 33 points.

Sadowy, 19, is currently unsigned by the San Jose Sharks and would re-enter the NHL draft if he remains unsigned by June 1st. If next year, Sadowy remains unsigned by any club, he would likely return to the OHL, hence the conditional picks involved in the trade.

Gregory DiTomaso, native to Toronto, Ontario was originally an 8th round selection of the Mississauga Steelheads before the defender was traded to the Saginaw Spirit midway through the 2014-2015 season. In 159 career OHL games played, DiTomaso has registered 44 career points. This year, he’s scored 1 goal and added 7 assists for 8 points in 30 games played.

DiTomaso has one year of OHL eligibility remaining following the 2015-2016 season and is a prospect eligible for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Also interested in this pair from Saginaw, was the Kitchener Rangers. But going along with the “Not mortgaging our future” theme which was mentioned in a report by Rangers writer Josh Brown, the move would not make sense for the Kitchener Rangers.

The only player headed to Saginaw in this deal is defender Rocky Kaura. Kaura, 18, and native to Mississauga, Ontario has two years of OHL eligibility following this season. In 64 OHL games played, the 6’03, 210lb Kaura has scored 3 points all assists and all of which were scored this season for the Barrie Colts.

Kaura is a prospect eligible for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Saginaw Rumour Mill

The Spirit were said to have something in the works with the Sarnia Sting which would see Sarnia ship a 96 born player to Saginaw, believed to be D Kevin Spinozzi, for draft choices which Sarnia would then flip for another player.

I don’t know if/how the acquisition of Kaura effects this.
