The Hamilton Bulldogs have sent overage forward Mason Marchment to the Mississauga Steelheads. In exchange, the Bulldogs receive young Luke Kutkevicius. Draft picks were also involved going both ways.

To Hamilton:
– Luke Kutkevicius
– 7th Round Draft Pick (2017)

To Mississauga:
– Mason Marchment
– 3rd Round Draft Pick (2017)

Mason Marchment had been acquired by the Hamilton Bulldogs earlier in the season from the Erie Otters as a result of an overage situation that needed to be dealt with in Erie. Since joining the Bulldogs, Marchment scored 31 points in 33 games consisting of 8 goals and 23 assists.

Mason is the son of former NHL player Bryan Marchment. The native of Uxbridge, Ontario is currently a free agent at the NHL level. Marchment attended the Calgary Flames development camp this summer.

Back to Hamilton in the deal is 1998 born centerman Luke Kutkevicius. Native to Toronto, Ontario, Kutkevicius is enjoying a somewhat successful rookie campaign where he has scored 11 points in 40 games played. The former 2nd round selection of the Steelheads back in 2014, is a prospect eligible for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Rumour Update

It is my belief that the Steelheads had some internal issues Kutkevicius. This trade may contribute a little bit to their case to keep Sean Day in the future.
