The Windsor Spitfires have claimed overage winger Mads Eller off of CHL waivers from the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings. Eller has spent his time this season playing for the ECHL’s Adirondack Thunder.

Eller, has scored 6 points in 28 games played in his first year of professional hockey. Before going pro, Eller enjoyed two seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL where he boasted 50 points consisting of 16 goals and 34 assists in 112 games played.

Eller brings his experience playing at multiple levels be it on Denmark’s national team, junior, as well as pro. He won the Memorial Cup in 2013-2014 with the Edmonton Oil Kings and is currently a free agent at the NHL level. He had attended the Dallas Stars Rookie Camp in 2014 before being sent back to Edmonton. Mads is the brother of Montreal Canadiens forward Lars Eller.

This move brings Windsor to their limit of 3 overagers. The overage trade deadline is Friday January 8th at noon.
