The Guelph Storm have claimed Christian Mieritz off of waivers from the Hamilton Bulldogs. Mieritz fresh off an impressive World Junior tournament with his native Denmark landed back in Toronto yesterday to an important question presented by Bulldogs GM George Burnett

By all accounts, there are absolutely no hard feelings between Mieritz and the Bulldogs, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. At the time of Mieritz’s plane landing in Toronto yesterday, the Bulldogs had 10 defenders on their roster and Mieritz was coming off an impressive performance at the World Junior tournament.

GM George Burnett and Bulldogs President Steve Staios asked Christian if he would want to go to Guelph and receive a better chance to get the ice time and continue to build off of his performance at the world junior tournament.

Mieritz, a native of Denmark, joins the Guelph Storm having tallied 1 point and 15 penalty minutes in 18 games played. Mieritz, 18, stands 6’0 and weighs 200lbs has two more seasons after this one of OHL eligibility. He is a prospect eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft.

This addition will free up some of the other Guelph Storm defenders if GM Mike Kelly wants to move any before the OHL trade deadline on Monday January 11th.
