Two sources have come forward in recent hours suggesting the Sarnia Sting may be close to or at least in discussions to acquire goaltender Charlie Graham and high scoring forward Stephen Harper from the Hamilton Bulldogs.

According to one of those sources, the swap would see Charlie Graham and Stephen Harper head to Sarnia with young defender Franco Sproviero, goaltender Justin Fazio and some draft picks head to Hamilton.

The league allots 3 positions for people born in 1995 and the Sting currently have two in Davis Brown and Matt Mistele and would be acquiring two more in Graham and Harper.

The same source did mention that Davis Brown would be no longer with the team, what that means remains to be seen. The winger who joined the Sting late after returning from a professional opportunity overseas has since notched 2 points in 11 games for the Sting and would be subject to either a release or a trade if they can put one together for him.

Teams can be above the overage limit of 3 until early January at which time all rosters can only have 3.

How imminent anything is remains to be seen but the discussions have definitely been ongoing. I can tell you that if the discussions are taking place, they are not yet serious enough that the players are aware.

“I guess we will see. I haven’t heard anything,” said Harper of the rumour. Charlie Graham echoed those sentiments.

Any attempt to contact anybody with the Sting for a comment go unanswered as about 2 weeks ago everybody was told not to talk to the Insider.

Just some food for thought.
