The Windsor Spitfires have acquired Winnipeg Jets prospect Brendan Lemieux from the Barrie Colts. In exchange, the Colts receive centerman Anthony Stefano along with two draft picks that can be used to acquire more pieces come OHL trade deadline or to take to the bank at future OHL Priority Selections.

To Windsor:
– Brendan Lemieux
– 3rd Round Pick (WSR, 2017)
– 4th Round Pick (2020)

To Barrie:
– Anthony Stefano
– 2nd Round Pick (2021)
– 3rd Round Pick (2019)

Brendan Lemieux wanted out of Barrie almost the very minute he was sent back from Winnipeg Jets camp. He wanted to go to a contender and would not waive his no trade clause for anyone other than London or Niagara.

Shortly thereafter, head coach/GM Dale Hawerchuk assured Lemieux and the rest of the Colts that the Colts were all in this year and Lemieux decided he would stay.

Before long, Lemieux, who is a prospect of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets by way of last year’s blockbuster trade that featured Tyler Myers and Evander Kane was suspended in October for 10 games and was not eligible to return to play until a month later. During that stretch the Colts performed admirably and Lemieux was in a position where he believed once again that he could benefit from a fresh start in a new city.

Lemieux, has scored 14 points consisting of 9 goals and 5 assists in 11 games for the Colts this season. Over his 4 years in the OHL, Lemieux has notched 157 points in 212 games and added 434 penalty minutes. Brendan is a native of Paradise Valley, Arizona and is the son of former NHLer Claude Lemieux.

In exchange for the grit grinder type Lemieux, the Colts receive centerman Anthony Stefano. Stefano, who was acquired from the Petes in January of this year after leaving the team in Peterborough and waiting for a trade at home in Sault Ste. Marie. Stefano, during his days in Windsor scored 26 points consisting of 12 goals and 14 assists in 50 games played.
