The Guelph Storm have announced the acquisition of overage netminder Michael Giugovaz from the Windsor Spitfires. Giugovaz was placed on OHL waivers by the Spitfires yesterday as a result of a crowded crease and an overage rule.

To Guelph:

  • Michael Giugovaz

To Windsor:

  • 10th Round Pick (2016)

Giugovaz will join the Storm, which will become the OHL 5th team he has been a part of. Oddly enough, he will be battling for the crease against Justin Nichols who Giugovaz fought against in his last game for the Spitfires on Sunday. Both Nichols and Giugovaz will wait to serve their 5 game suspension which they picked up as a result of that fight.

The Guelph Storm will be moving one of their goaltenders out in the coming days. While Nichols is the suspected odd man out, the same source who named the Guelph Storm as a landing spot for Giugovaz, told me he thinks there is just as much of a chance that the Storm ship out 1997 born goaltender, Bradley Van Schubert.
