SaultSteMarieAll the chatter about first year general manager Kyle Raftis sitting on his hands and not actively seeking players to make a push in this years race for the Memorial Cup has finally been silenced.

Kyle Raftis in the last 3 days has acquired some significant pieces to this puzzle we call the Soo Greyhounds, ultimately evening out the depth of the team to compete with both Oshawa Generals and Erie Otters.

To start it all off, a deal with the Kitchener Rangers saw Buffalo Sabres prospect and Kitchener Rangers leading goal scorer come to the ‘Hounds in exchange for David Miller, 2nd Rnd ’16, Ply’s 3rd, Rnd ’15, 2nd Rnd ’18, 3rd Rnd ’18 (Conditional).

24 hours later Kyle Raftis announced another massive deal, this time exchanging players and picks with the Peterborough Petes.  Kyle Raftis sent defense man Kyle Jenkins, Ply’s 2nd Rnd ’15, 3rd Rnd ’17, 2nd Rnd ’19, 2nd Rnd ’20 in exchange for Petes captain and recent gold medalist Nicholas Ritchie and overage defenseman Connor Boland to strengthen us on the blue-line.

Raftis didn’t finish there either. After speculations of a deal with Sarnia Stings starting to swirl last night, the ‘Hounds faithful woke up to more fantastic news.  Star blue liner Anthony DeAngelo agreed to waive his NTC and join the ‘Hounds on their run for the Memorial Cup.  Raftis sent 1st round pick Anthony Salinitri along side Wsr’s 2nd Rnd ’15, 2nd Rnd ’17 ,4th Rnd ’18 in exchange for Anthony DeAngelo.

With the recent string of trades, Kyle Raftis has proven that he is not sitting pretty, but in fact the Soo Greyhounds are indeed all-in and going for the Memorial Cup.

Overage trade deadline is 12:00PM today, trade deadline for remaining players is tomorrow ( January, 8th, 2015) at 3:00PM.
