Brandon Robinson’s time with the Kitchener Rangers may prove to be shorter than some may have predicted. Having spent just over a year with the Kitchener Rangers following being acquired from the North Bay Battalion in exchange for Ben Thomson and a draft pick, it seems as though the Kitchener Rangers are now trying to move the 6’3 winger elsewhere.

Robinson’s name has been appearing on the OHL’s trade wire for a little while now and if speculation is correct, the Windsor Spitfires may have taken an interest in the former OHL first round selection, 7th overall, of what was then the Brampton Battalion. In exchange for Robinson, the Rangers are looking for a young player of which, Windsor has an abundance of with guys like Ryan Foss, Andrew Burns, Ryan Moore among a group appealing young players consisting of probably 7 or 8.

Robinson, who was a camp invite of the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL has spent much time on the sidelines in recent memory as he has been plagued by many injuries throughout his time in the Ontario Hockey League. He’s been healthy this year however, he’s played every game (28) so far this season for the Rangers notching 19 points consisting of 10 goals and 9 assists while holding a +6 rating in the +/- category

The Windsor Spitfires are looking for “a player who will be an overager next year” and Robinson will likely do just that. For the Spitfires, acquiring somebody like Robinson will give them options next season with their overagers between Povorozniouk, Soberg, Murphy and Robinson if they do end up acquiring him.

“No I haven’t heard anything, this is news to me,” Robinson said when asked if he’d heard anything into the rumour.

There is now a trade freeze in effect pertaining to players participating in the World Junior Championship this year. The trade freeze is in effect for those players from 4:00pm on Dec. 10 until Monday Jan. 5, 2015. Within that freeze is a Christmas trade freeze pertaining to all players between Dec. 20 – Dec. 27.
