The Niagara IceDogs have acquired New York Islanders first rounder Josh Ho-Sang from the Windsor Spitfires.

To Windsor:

– Hayden McCool
– 2016 2nd Round Selection
– 2018 2nd Round Selection
– 2019 2nd Round Selection

To Niagara:

– Josh Ho-Sang

The deal was said to be in the works for the first time on Thursday night but it appeared talks cooled down as a result of Ho-Sang using his no trade clause. It’s no secret the talented forward wanted to be closer to home, in the Toronto area. This is when the NHL’s New York Islanders stepped in and convinced their first rounder that Niagara is probably a good fit for him. Don’t forget, one of the Islanders top prospects in Ryan Strome was a Niagara IceDogs not too long ago.

Ho-Sang has notched 19 points in his first 11 games with the Spitfires this season while McCool, a former 6th overall selection by the IceDogs in 2013, has struggled so far in his OHL career and could benefit from a fresh start in a new city,

Ho-Sang’s name first came across the OHL’s trade wire last month.
