According to @WhalersInsider, Sonny Milano will make his regular season debut this Friday when the Whalers square off with the Mississauga Steelheads. He will be dawning the full face shield for the first little while.

Sonny was the Plymouth Whaler’s 4th round selection, 81st overall, in 2012. He hasn’t played since he was in Traverse City with the Columbus Blue Jackets for their prospect tournament where he suffered 2 facial fractures. Milano was the Blue Jacket’s 1st round selection, 16th overall, in the 2014 NHL draft.

He spent his time last season in the U.S. where he played 90 games between the USHL’s US National Team Development Program, the USDP’s U.S. National U18 Team and the USA U18 squad. Milano totalled 135 points (46 goals, 89 assists) add 48 penalty minutes and a +27 rating and we’ll call it a pretty successful year for the Massapequa, New York native.

Sonny is known for his silky hands. In case you have not seen this video, it’s highly recommended you check it out
