The Guelph Storm have managed to trade Matthew Mancina to the Peterborough Petes in exchange for a Barrie’s 3rd round pick in 2015 and Peterborough’s 3rd round pick in 2017.

Mancina was said to have gone home to Tecumseh, ON while awaiting a trade from the Guelph Storm. He was rumoured to want to play closer to home and there were at least two teams that would have made that happen for Mancina, but Guelph wanted a player if Mancina was to stay within conference as opposed to a 2nd and a 3rd round pick if he were to go to the eastern conference.

Both Windsor and London had made inquiries to the Storm on the 96′ born goaltender. I cannot speak for whatPeterborough they wanted from Windsor, but it would have taken 94′ forward Matt Rupert from London, a price the Knights were not willing to pay.

In the end, it was Peterborough. Only instead of the 2nd and 3rd round pick the Storm were originally asking, Mike Oke and crew in Peterborough managed to swing two 3rd round picks.

Mancina is still relatively unproven so we’ll see what Mancina can do for the struggling Petes.
