Mark Hunter Gets NHL Shot

Knights GM and co-owner Mark Hunter will be stepping away from the London Knights for the foreseeable future and stepping into a brand new position in Toronto with the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.

Director of player personnel will be his new title. It’s a brand new position that Brendan Shanahan and crew have created with the Leafs. Mark will be responsible for and oversee for both professional and amateur scouting.

I spoke with Mark at the rink about a week ago, everything seemed business as usual. This announcement is one of the rare ones, especially when dealing with the Toronto Maple Leafs, that has managed to stay out of the media spotlight. Mark has been waiting patiently for an NHL shot but always said he wouldn’t just go to the NHL for the sake of a title, it had to be a move that made sense for him and this is definitely one that does.

Mark has an immediate and personal connection with players on all 30 NHL teams through his work with the London Knights. This will be invaluable when it comes to making Toronto a place players want to go to.

Basil McCrae (Co-owner) will serve as the London Knights GM for the time being.
